All patients are monitored by the responsible medical team, and the quality team plays an active role by conducting daily checks to ensure all national safety requirements are met.

• In the inpatient department, the medical team receives all previous tests and analyses from the patient, reviews the details of their condition and medical history, and discusses the appropriate treatment plan with them. We are committed to giving the patient ample opportunity to have all their questions answered before the treatment plan begins. We encourage them to participate in treatment decisions, as we firmly believe that patient partnerships are one of the most important foundations for patient safety.
• The medical team asks the patient multiple questions about their medical condition (screening), enabling us to determine whether we need to implement a higher level of precautions, such as medication or food allergies. After any surgical procedure, vital signs are monitored periodically to ensure they are all within the normal range and that the patient is improving and returning to their normal state after surgery. The patient's pain level is also assessed, as we at Shifa Hospital consider pain-free during their hospital stay to be the most important right of the patient.
• Shifa Hospital has 10 capsule operating rooms, operating 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
• We have a full medical team of consultants and specialists in all specialties, a consultant and anesthesiologist, and a full nursing team available 24 hours a day. All procedures performed during surgeries follow international guidelines and evidence-based medicine.
• We ensure a complete pre-operative checklist before each surgery, reassess the anesthesia, and ensure proper preparation for the procedure using what we call the "Surgical Safety Checklist," one of the most important recommendations of the World Health Organization (WHO) for safe surgery. The hospital's regulatory system for all medications, especially anesthetic medications, involves continuous monitoring of how they are handled. Each medication is identified by a unique method and has specific instructions that we ensure are implemented regularly.
• In childbirth cases, and after the child's birth, they are identified by wristbands and a fingerprint is taken.
• After birth, the child's health is examined, and all body systems are assessed (such as the nervous system, normal breathing, blood circulation, etc.). We ensure the child's health by measuring vital signs such as pulse, blood pressure, blood sugar, weight, height, and head and abdominal circumference.
• Shifa Hospital follows international standards for medication safety and security, according to the Institute of Safe Medication Practice, both in storage and preparation of medications.
• Medications are stored in compliance with safe storage requirements, by ensuring proper temperature and labeling. 
• Medication preparation at the pharmacy is carried out using a highly precise mechanism, ensuring the patient's name, medical number, medication type, dosage, and expiry date are verified. Medications that are similar in appearance and pronunciation are identified to prevent errors. 
• Additionally, high-risk medications are handled with special care and are maintained according to specific standards that we adhere to at Shifa Hospital to achieve the highest levels of safety and medication security. 
• Shifa Hospital sterilizes all instruments in the sterilization department, which operates 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
• Sterilization is performed using autoclaves at a temperature of 134°C and a pressure of over 2 bars.
• Each surgical instrument undergoes multiple stages of washing using dedicated washing machines and ultrasonic devices. It is then inspected, packaged, and sterilized. The effectiveness of sterilization is ensured by using an indicator for each surgical instrument, in addition to daily inspection and monitoring of the sterilization devices.
• At Shifa Hospital, all meals are prepared according to standard guidelines. There is a daily menu for the patient to choose from, based on the type of food allowed, as recommended by the treating physician. The temperature of the food inside the food container is maintained at 35°C. The food is then packed into plates, where it is maintained at 65°C. Each meal is labeled with the date, patient information, and code.
